Marketing & Sales Manager .
LUBRICATING OILS MARKETING/SALES MANAGER

My Client is a world class lubricant manufacturer backed by Idemitsu Kosan, LTD, one of the world’s largest oil companies, is looking to fill a marketing/sales manager’s position in its El Segundo, CA (LA, CA suburb) office. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is mandatory with a technical four year degree (engineering or chemistry) preferred. Minimum of two years marketing and sales background in lubricating oil is required with demonstrated supervisory experience. Excellent communication and social skills are required, including strong formal presentation skills.

The position will promote the sale of premium, highly engineered, automotive lubricants by maintaining customer contact and communicating with engineering, procurement, and senior management professionals. Must show a high degree of professionalism.

Apollo will provide some training for the successful qualified candidate; however, sales/marketing and industry specific knowledge are preferred. Potential for extensive travel approximately 40-60% exists. There is no home office. The position has an attractive benefit package and bonus opportunities.

Position Summary: Develops accounts utilizing existing tools and by implementing new or existing sales techniques. Acquires and develops new accounts. Educates and supervises other associates. Primary territory is USA aftermarket oil; also, has joint responsibility for all USA customers handled by LA Office. Manages all computer hardware, software, and application related issues.

Specific Responsibilities/Examples of Duties:
1. Establishes team goals/objectives, outlines team guidelines, and insures strong ethical principles are followed.
2. Leads team by giving direction, providing advice on technical issues, coaching, inspiring motivation, evaluating performance and taking corrective action to improve performance when necessary.
3. Regularly disseminates information to team regarding AAC and industry changes as well as cultural and ethical values.
4. Allocates appropriate resources to new product development and determines and recommends expansion of organization globally for new customers.
5. Determines ways to reduce costs and expand gross profit.
6. Serves as back up for General Manager (LA) in his absence and reports regularly to GM (at least once per week) on his team’s activities, problems, results, etc.
7. Develops optimum distribution networks for current and new business.
8. Maintains and develops relationships with customers’ management and engineering representatives to include solving their problems.
9. Promotes the sale of lubricants by exploring new sales channels and acquires new business through proposals of marketing/distribution strategies and product performance/specifications.
10. Develops and negotiates contracts with distributors, suppliers, and customers and resolves disputes in order to reach long term agreements.
11. Organizes and coordinates work with associates on different teams in such a manner to most efficiently manage current business and to acquire new business.
12. Analyzes all activity to predict potential future effects. Utilizes this information to avoid negative circumstances.
13. Determines direction of individual activity and develops strategy for entire aftermarket business.
14. Manages maintenance, installation, system development, graphics, database development for LA office.
